We had someone ask recently how to go about picking a good personal injury lawyer here in Nassau County and the Amelia Island area. That is the number one consideration. You also want someone who’s familiar with the area who’s willing to go out to the areas where the injury or accident occurred and can translate that into your claim. One mistake that we see clients who come to our office in a personal injury case make is when they wait to act on a case. When you wait, evidence can be lost. For example, in an automobile case, if you wait, the damage to an automobile can be repaired, or if it’s a total loss, it can be sold and never to be found again. That is the Number One mistake that we see clients make.

The second one that we see is that they don’t get medical care immediately. There are certain circumstances where you may not feel like you’re hurt and you don’t go. First off, that’s bad in terms of recovery. Secondly, in Florida, if you don’t seek medical care within 14 days of an automobile accident, you lose your right to have those bills paid under your no-fault insurance policy.
